Morva Recruitment is delighted to be partnering with a leading construction and infrastructure organisation delivering a major redevelopment project within a Royal Navy facility in Plymouth. We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established commercial team working on a high-profile, long-term project. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of complex infrastructure works within a highly regulated environment.

This position offers hybrid working, with a minimum of 3 days per week required on site and flexibility to work remotely for the remainder of the week. Due to the nature of the project, candidates will be required to undergo BPSS security clearance. Please note that this process can take up to 8 weeks to complete.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country
  • Have resided in the UK continuously for the last 5 years
  • Be eligible to obtain BPSS security clearance

The Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the contractual and financial aspects of construction works from inception through to completion. Working within a live MOD environment, you will support commercial performance whilst ensuring projects are delivered within budget and in accordance with contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing detailed cost estimates, budgets and forecasts
  • Managing project costs and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle
  • Reviewing, negotiating and administering contracts, subcontracts and variations
  • Managing procurement activities and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations
  • Monitoring project performance and identifying commercial risks and opportunities
  • Preparing interim valuations, payment applications and final accounts
  • Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors and project teams
  • Ensuring compliance with contractual, legal and company requirements
  • Producing cost analysis reports and commercial documentation
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial team
  • Assisting with the resolution of commercial and contractual issues

About You

We are looking for a commercially astute and proactive professional with experience working on major construction, infrastructure or engineering projects.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years' relevant Quantity Surveying experience or at least 3 years post-professional qualification experience
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes and cost management
  • Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • CSCS White PQP/AQP Card

Desirable

  • Professional accreditation such as RICS or CIOB
  • Experience working within Defence, Nuclear, MOD or other highly regulated sectors
  • Experience using industry-standard quantity surveying and cost management software
