About the role

The Senior QA Engineer is a key member of the Technology team, responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability and scalability of a modern, microservices‑based platform used across the financial services sector. This role has a strong focus on test automation and quality engineering, playing a pivotal part in shaping test strategy, improving test coverage and accelerating delivery across the software development lifecycle. Working within a cross‑functional Agile delivery squad, you will collaborate closely with Developers, Product Owners and DevOps to embed quality early and ensure solutions are robust, release‑ready and aligned to business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of automated test frameworks
  • Build and maintain automated test suites covering API, integration and UI scenarios
  • Contribute to and support CI/CD pipelines, enabling fast, reliable and repeatable deployments
  • Define and execute test strategies aligned to Agile delivery and modern engineering practices
  • Partner closely with Engineering and DevOps teams to improve test effectiveness and coverage
  • Analyse, log and clearly communicate defects, risks and test outcomes to stakeholders
  • Perform targeted manual testing for complex, exploratory or high‑risk scenarios as required
  • Use SQL to validate data, support end‑to‑end testing and assist with troubleshooting
  • Review requirements, user stories and technical designs to ensure testability early in the lifecycle
  • Maintain clear, up‑to‑date test documentation and release readiness reporting
  • Actively contribute to improving QA practices, tools and processes across the wider team

About you

  • Strong experience in software testing of web-based applications.
  • Have a good understanding or experience with the project lifecycle and deployment of commercial web applications.
  • Knowledge on UI automation tools like Selenium.
  • Good experience in API testing using Swagger.
  • Experience with software tools for planning and tracking the workflow of test cases and new project work.
  • Previous experience working within an Agile environment.
  • Must be eager to learn with a technical mindset.
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment, working towards tight deadlines.
  • Any related testing qualifications would be advantageous.
