Senior Catastrophe Modeller | London (2.5 days in office) | Up to £100,000 + Benefits
Are you an experienced Senior Catastrophe Modeller looking for your next challenge in the reinsurance and specialty risk market?
We’re partnering with a leading global reinsurance organisation to recruit a Senior Catastrophe Modeller to join a highly regarded team working with major insurers, reinsurers and Lloyd’s market participants.
This is an excellent opportunity to combine technical catastrophe modelling expertise with client engagement, analytical innovation and strategic risk advisory work.
The Opportunity
You’ll play a key role in delivering sophisticated risk analytics, helping clients understand complex exposures and make better-informed reinsurance decisions. The role will focus primarily on marine, energy and terrorism risks, with opportunities to contribute to other assignments.
Working closely with brokers, actuaries, reinsurers and international colleagues, you’ll help turn complex modelling outputs into actionable insights while contributing to the development of analytical tools and innovative approaches to risk assessment.
- Lead catastrophe analytics assignments and coordinate analytical delivery across multiple projects and clients.
- Engage with reinsurers, brokers and actuaries to interpret model outputs, explain limitations and resolve technical queries.
- Provide insights into catastrophe risk exposures, model performance and wider risk management challenges.
- Drive analytical initiatives, including benchmarking, view-of-risk advisory projects and the assessment of non-natural catastrophe exposures.
- Collaborate with international teams and contribute to the development of proprietary analytical tools and solutions.
- Proven catastrophe modelling or catastrophe analytics experience within a broker, insurer, reinsurer or related financial services organisation.
- Experience using vendor catastrophe modelling platforms such as RMS, Verisk or Cotality.
- Strong understanding of catastrophe model outputs, their implications and their limitations.
- SQL skills are essential, with Python or other programming experience advantageous.
- Experience with Tableau or Power BI.
- Strong analytical, statistical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- The ability to manage competing priorities, lead analytical initiatives and deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines.
A degree in finance, statistics, science or a related discipline is preferred, or an equivalent qualification.
