Morson Talent currently have an opportunity available for a Bid Manager to work on behalf of our Aerospace clients based in Yeovil, Somerset. This is a full-time position to work on an ongoing contract. Reporting to the Senior Bids & Proposal Manager, the primary purpose of the Bid Manager is to manage and coordinate the preparation and timely and successful submission of complex bids and proposals to maximise order intake.
The Bid & Proposals Manager will be proficient in digesting and communicating detailed customer requirements through the business to the Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) who will support the Bid Manager in preparing a clearly defined, technically compliant and competitively priced proposal. The Bid & Proposal Manager will be the focal point for the opportunity and will provide bid management direction to the cross-geographical Integrated Campaign Team (ICT). Working closely with the Campaign Manager to set the bid strategy by understanding the customer’s operational requirements, Win Themes and Pricing To Win.
As a crucial part of the International Campaigns Department, you will be required to manage bids for both foreign and domestic customers. You will have the ability to learn and develop your skills in helicopter product knowledge with the opportunity to attend the clients Familiarisation workshops. Development opportunities in bid management aligned to the Association of Bid and Proposal Management (APMP), and the company will support you in providing continual professional development through the means of business winning and functional specific learning opportunities. You will be responsible for managing bids from the clients four Domestic Markets (UK, Italy, Poland and US). This will likely offer the opportunity to travel to these locations. In addition to this, travel may be required to target markets to oversee final delivery of bid submissions.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Accept and manage proposals tasks from commencement of bid through proposal and negotiation to contract award.
- Responsible for acting as the guardian of our Bid Management Processes, to ensure that bid submissions are commercially viable and limit the company’s risk exposure.
- Responsible for forecasting and budgeting for functional resource requirements, maintaining active oversight of the bid budget.
- Confidently raising priorities and potential conflicts or issues in a timely way, to avoid deviation from the bid schedule.
- Liaise with the Heads of Region and Campaign Managers to oversee and manage the creation of all bid deliverables, working with the Bid Editing Team and Proposal Managers to ensure Bid Submissions are of high quality and place client Solutions in the best possible chance for success.
- Manage the technical and price compliance of our bid submissions.
- Manage individually and collectively packages of technical and commercial work for the proposals and bidding activity and complete within the given deadlines.
- Liaise with all AW sites as required.
- Liaise with other functional departments for input requirements.
- Liaise with external resources specific to the task.
- Prepare concise and informative briefing and approval papers for Senior Leadership Team.
- Support Campaign Manager in customer negotiations as required and handover to contract administration.
- Support the Head of Bids & Proposals UK in establishing and improving processes.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- 5-10 years’ experience in Bid or Project Management discipline.
- Excellent use of International English and English grammar.
- Pro-active, able to work using own initiative to achieve deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with other functional departments.
- Flexible to meet demands of the bids.
- Knowledge of other languages useful, particularly Italian.
- Degree level education but the right experience can also be equivalent.
- Ability to ensure Campaign Win Themes are clearly identifiable to the customer.
- Ability to build an effective professional network both virtually and in person.
