Role Overview As a Stores Operative , you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the stores and logistics areas. This includes receiving, checking, and recording deliveries, handling inventory, supporting production schedules, and ensuring the smooth operation of goods inwards and dispatch. You will play a crucial role in maintaining stock accuracy, supporting the production teams, and ensuring all goods are processed and delivered according to Ultra Maritime\’s high standards of efficiency and safety.
Key Responsibilities Goods Inward:
Receive deliveries from suppliers and other sources, ensuring that the goods match the order documentation.
Check goods and paperwork for accuracy and book items into the system.
Create and attach labels to packages and ensure they are moved to the correct next steps in the process.
Scan and store relevant documents digitally for record-keeping.
Inventory and Stock Control:
Perform regular stock counts (cycle counting) and update the system with any adjustments.
Liaise with the stores lead to request and send stock from offsite storage.
Ensure the correct location of all stock and maintain an accurate record of all inventory.
Picking & Packing:
Pick materials and parts according to sales orders, customer orders, and material requisitions.
Ensure all items are picked, packed, and dispatched to meet the production schedule.
Pack deliveries to the required standards, ensuring the correct documentation accompanies all shipments.
Ensure goods are prepared for dispatch according to the company\’s processes and procedures.
Vehicle and Warehouse Operations:
Where qualified, load and unload delivery vehicles efficiently.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure health and safety standards are met.
Perform daily checks on forklifts and document findings.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with colleagues in different departments to address any queries or resolve issues related to stock and stores.
Support other sites as required, offering assistance across multiple locations.
Health and Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all health and safety protocols at all times.
Report any potential safety hazards or non-compliance issues promptly.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience Experience:
Previous experience in a warehouse or stores environment is essential.
Experience in stock counting and inventory management.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong numerical skills and proficiency in data entry.
Ability to handle physical tasks, including moving goods by hand and climbing ladders.
Forklift license preferred (training can be provided if needed).
Full UK driving license required.
Desirable Qualifications:
DGN (Dangerous Goods Notice) training is ideal, but not essential.
Benefits Work Flexibility:
Option for a 9-day fortnight schedule (extended weekends every other week) or a 5 day week.
Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) for up to 1 day per month.
