My client is a leading Lloyd’s market insurer seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join its growing Data Science & Analytics function in London. This is a newly created position within a highly collaborative and commercially focused analytics team, supporting the organisation’s continued investment in modern analytics, underwriting insight, and data-driven decision making across the business.

Sitting at the intersection of underwriting analytics, BI engineering, stakeholder engagement, and analytics governance, the role will play a key part in helping evolve the function from traditional reporting delivery toward more advanced, value-added analytics and operational maturity.

The Senior Data Analyst will be expected to:

  • Act as a senior analytics partner to underwriting, claims, and exposure management teams, helping drive commercially focused decision-making.
  • Lead complex Power BI and SQL analytics workstreams across a modern Azure-based data environment.
  • Translate open-ended business questions into structured analytical outputs, dashboards, and actionable insight.
  • Develop and optimise Power BI semantic models, dashboards, DAX calculations, and reporting solutions.
  • Support the development of analytics engineering standards, governance processes, peer review, and release management practices.
  • Contribute to Power BI workspace governance, deployment pipelines, Dev/Test/Prod processes, and reporting quality assurance.
  • Work closely with Data Engineering teams on curated data layers, semantic modelling, and analytics platform enhancements.
  • Support and mentor junior analysts across SQL, Power BI, data modelling, and analytics delivery best practice.
  • Contribute to the adoption of AI and LLM tooling within analytics processes, including automation, code generation, and insight generation.
  • Partner with stakeholders across underwriting, operations, and technology functions within an Agile delivery environment.

The successful Senior Data Analyst will possess:

  • 5-10 years’ experience within Data Analytics, BI, or Reporting-focused roles.
  • Experience within a Lloyd’s syndicate, managing agent, London Market broker, or specialty (re)insurer.
  • Advanced SQL and Power BI expertise, including DAX, Power Query, data modelling, and dashboard development.
  • Experience working with Azure-based data environments such as Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks, or Fabric.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and business partnering capability, particularly within underwriting or commercial insurance functions.
  • Experience delivering analytics solutions within highly regulated or complex enterprise environments.
  • Understanding of Power BI governance, deployment pipelines, semantic modelling, and analytics engineering best practice.
  • Experience mentoring junior analysts or supporting wider team capability development.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a business actively investing in the modernisation of its analytics capability, offering strong visibility, stakeholder exposure, and the opportunity to help shape a growing analytics function within the Lloyd’s market.
