12 Month initial contract for a Senior/Principal Wastewater Modeller for a leading engineering consultancy, they are flexible on candidate locations.

Our Water Management team is seeking a Principal / Senior Wastewater Modeller. In this position, you will lead the development of wastewater models, manage key project aspects, and work closely with clients to build and expand the project portfolio through strategic client interactions. Collaboration, proactive problem-solving, and creative thinking are central to our team's approach, and will be a fundamental part of your role.

Our Water team is at the forefront of tackling some of the UK's most technically demanding projects and AMP8 programmes. Renowned for our expertise, we work in close partnership with leading water companies and contractors to deliver innovative solutions. Our projects focus on addressing flooding challenges, reducing storm overflow pollution, and improving network resilience, all while ensuring compliance with UK regulatory requirements, such as WINEP, and adhering to industry best practices.

Role accountabilities:

  • Deliver a range of wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure modelling projects, effectively managing tasks of various scales.
  • Conduct technical reviews of wastewater models, oversee model build and verification of sewer networks, oversee survey specifications and management, develop strategic solutions to mitigate flooding and reduce CSO spills.
  • Provide support to designers at concept outline and detailed design stages.
  • Review and enhance technical reports and presentations to uphold high-quality standards.
  • Resolve technical modelling challenges on projects and contribute to advancing the team's technical expertise.
  • Ensure project components, including reports, drawings, specifications, and studies, comply with relevant standards and project requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with clients, providing clear explanations and ensuring they understand model outputs and processes.
  • Support and guide junior team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Assist with preparation of bids including narratives, cost estimates and programmes.
  • Coordinate project elements, managing resource allocation, quality assurance, subcontractor interactions, and client feedback.
  • Work alongside specialists from other engineering and environmental disciplines to ensure project integrity.
  • Liaise effectively with the Project Director or Manager and the client to support project progress.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment by actively supporting the professional development of both yourself and your team, guiding junior members to reach their full potential.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Advanced expertise in hydraulic modelling for a range of wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects.
  • Skilled in team and stakeholder coordination and management.
  • Proficient in InfoWorks ICM; HADES knowledge would be advantageous.
  • Competent in using relevant GIS software packages.
  • Chartered member of a relevant professional institution (e.g., ICE or CIWEM).
  • Proven experience in model quality assurance procedures.
  • Strong report-writing skills.
  • Advanced abilities in spreadsheet-based data analysis.
  • Coding experience desirable.
