The role
As a Senior Mechanical Designer, you will provide a point of contact with professional engineering colleagues and various stakeholders for discipline-related issues during the design lifecycle, contribute to design reviews, and ensure coordination and functionality of the design. This role is full time, 37 hours per week, based in Warrington, Cheshire. It offers hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.
Responsibilities
- Allocate discipline tasks to the team of Designers, check team drawing outputs, and ensure inter-discipline coordination according to company and regulatory standards.
- Promote effective cooperation across Design and other functional teams.
- Assist in managing customer relationships, including liaison and development with existing and new customers, to support business development, resolve technical and delivery issues, and keep customers informed of progress.
- Advise on and assist in selecting appropriate methods and tools for tasks, providing technical support to the team of Designers.
- Contribute to the preparation and production of drawings supporting basic, detailed, and production design in line with ISO standards, meeting time, cost, and quality requirements.
Essential Experience
- Experience in a detailed design environment.
- Good knowledge of CAD tools.
- Knowledge of general engineering drawing practice.
- Incorporated Engineer status.
- Demonstrable experience in leading a multi-disciplined design team.
Qualifications
- HNC/HND minimum in a relevant discipline or equivalent academic qualification.
- Demonstrated or in-progress ICF (Integrated Competency Framework).
- Ability to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
