We have an exciting new opportunity for a SAFETY CASE ENGINEER to be based at our clients offices in West Cumbria.
About the Role:
To support the Safety Case Manager (SCM) in the preparation, implementation and maintenance of the Safety Cases for Analytical Services and Infrastructure. Ensuring that the safety case delivered is clear and user friendly for all stakeholders.
Key tasks for the Rationalisation Project:
- Provide high quality safety case advice and documentation for B229 Safety Case development and safety case implementation.
- Work collaboratively with other disciplines to develop operations schedule, engineering schedule, operator instructions, maintenance instructions and training packages.
- Facilitate communication between relevant stakeholders during the verification of the safety case.
- Present safety case documents to safety committees on behalf of the SCM (as required).
- Oversee the production and completion of Safety Case Implementation Plans (SCIPs).
- Produce/support the production of/review of PMPs.
- Support the delivery of operator briefings regarding safety case change.
- Support engagements with regulatory bodies and other external stakeholders for the associated facility safety case.
Essential Experience and Characteristics:
- Able to understand safety case documentation, engineering drawings and other related information.
- Effective communication and team working skills – the role holder will need to work effectively with individuals and groups in several teams and business areas.
- Able to use standard IT packages and databases.
- Able to work independently to high standards and in compliance with legislative, regulatory and company policy standards and procedures e.g. safety, quality, risk, security etc, applicable to the role.
- Good analytical thinking skills, with experience of solving novel and possibly challenging technical issues.
- Good planning skills.
- Self-motivated with a high level of resilience.
Desirable Experience and Characteristics:
- Demonstrably competent against the Sellafield requirements for Safety Case Advisors.
- Degree qualified or relevant experience.
- Previous experience in operations, engineering, technical disciplines or in a support team for an operational plant.
- Knowledge of safety case implementation.
- Experience of regulatory interface.
- Knowledge of the relevant Site Licence Conditions.
