Safety & Environmental Engineer
Location: Portsmouth (hybrid, 3 days onsite after induction)
Contract: 6 months (likely to extend)
Rate: £37.38/hour PAYE or £50/hour Umbrella
We seek an engineer who has worked in a military / defence environment / industry within the last 12 months
The Role
Hands-on role ensuring projects meet Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory requirements across the engineering lifecycle. You will work across multiple programmes, supporting compliance and advising on UK MOD and EU standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Safety & Environmental Management Plans and Cases.
- Lead and chair internal/external safety and environmental committees.
- Support projects to meet EU directives (technical files, Declarations of Conformity).
- Undertake/facilitate safety and environmental analysis.
- Act as focal point for compliance matters, advising engineering teams.
Essential Skills
- Strong knowledge of UK MOD Safety & Environmental Management (ASEMS, DEF STAN 00-056/51, POSMS, POEMS).
- Understanding of UK/EU regulatory compliance frameworks.
- Experience supporting complex engineering projects.
Desirable
- Background in maritime or satellite communication systems.
