We are seeking an experienced and proactive Risk Opportunity Manager to join our PMO function and lead the management of project risk and opportunity across a diverse portfolio of programmes.

The Role

As the Risk Opportunity Manager, you will be responsible for leading the identification, assessment, mitigation, and management of risks and opportunities across multiple projects and programmes.

You will work closely with Project Managers, stakeholders, and leadership teams to ensure a consistent and effective risk management framework is embedded across the organisation. This role is ideal for someone with strong project controls experience, analytical capability, and the confidence to challenge constructively while driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Opportunity Management

  • Lead the end-to-end Project Risk Opportunity Management process across the project portfolio
  • Develop and maintain Risk Opportunity Management Plans during project initiation
  • Coordinate and facilitate risk identification workshops, assessments, and response planning sessions
  • Monitor and manage risks, opportunities, and associated action plans with assigned owners
  • Maintain the central Risk Opportunity Register and ensure data integrity

Portfolio Programme Support

  • Identify common risks and opportunities across projects and escalate where appropriate
  • Support reporting activities across Project, Programme, and Portfolio levels
  • Analyse trends, emerging risks, and areas of concern to support decision-making

Quantitative Risk Analysis

  • Oversee quantitative risk analysis activities including:
  • Monte Carlo simulation
  • Sensitivity analysis
  • Probabilistic modelling
  • Interpret analysis results and provide recommendations for mitigation and control strategies

Process Improvement Training

  • Maintain and improve risk management tools, templates, and methodologies
  • Deliver training and guidance to project teams and stakeholders
  • Promote a culture of proactive risk awareness and management across the business

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with PMO, Programme teams, and functional leaders
  • Coordinate external specialist support services where required

About You

Essential Skills Experience

  • Strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies
  • Experience managing project risk and opportunity within complex programmes
  • Knowledge of quantitative risk analysis techniques and tools
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong analytical and organisational capability
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Project Management and/or Risk Management qualifications
  • Experience within defence, engineering, manufacturing, or highly regulated industries
