As the Capenhurst Site's Subject Matter Expert for radiation safety, you will lead the development of arrangements for the practical and pragmatic implementation of applicable law, relevant good practice and business requirements, and provide safety management leadership, assisting the Capenhurst site in achieving excellent standards of radiation safety management.

What you’ll do:
- Provide pragmatic and useful advice and guidance to ensure compliance with the Ionising Radiations Regulations and the radiation protection aspects of the Radiation (Emergency and Public information) Regulations and applicable transport regulations across all activities on the Capenhurst site. This requires collaborative working with, and continual intelligence gathering from around the Capenhurst site, building constructive relationships with a wide range of interested parties.
- Provide technical input to support the development of training needs analyses, learning objectives and training content and competence assessment appropriate to radiation safety on the site.
- Provide technical expertise to the development and implementation of a management system which ensures compliance with the Ionising Radiations Regulations. Provision of advice on the practical implementation within the Capenhurst companies.
- Develop and implement appropriate performance indicators and reporting tools, in collaboration with the Business Support Services function. Ensure external (including regulatory) reporting requirements are met in the field of radiation protection.
What do you need to thrive in this role?
- Certified Radiation Protection Adviser under the RPA 2000 scheme or equivalent.
- NEBOSH Certificate in Health and Safety (or a commitment to work towards).
- Chartered member of relevant professional institute (or a commitment to work towards).
- Appropriate instruction in conducting investigations, as well as Root Cause Analysis (or a commitment to work towards).
- Experience of working as an RPA within a nuclear licensed site or other associated industries, including interacting with relevant regulators.
- Experience of working with and/or developing Integrated Management Systems or Safety Management Systems.
- Experience of successfully influencing at all levels of a business, including where conflicting priorities exist, and outwith own reporting line.
