Due to significant demand, our client, a World leader in the defence industry, has an immediate requirement for a professional and self-motivated Production Controller.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
Production control – using MRP to progress development projects through the manufacturing and assembly routes, and processes in accordance with customer requirements.
Release and progressing of works orders and following up with internal and external suppliers.
Management of exception reports
Following up on works order shortages (internally & externally)
Maintain progress reports – including vendor information, descriptions of materials/services ordered, dates of purchase orders, project requirements, vendor promised delivery and actual delivery.
Escalate any delays, issues or shortages
Maintain close contact with all sections in production
Ensure customer target dates are achieved
Run on site reports daily on predictability, overdue reports and ensure production work achieved to deadlines
Experience and skills required will be:
Ability to operate in a pro-active, flexible, organised, consistent and committed manner, and pay attention to detail.
Capable of working calmly and accurately under pressure and to strict deadlines.
Good interpersonal skills and a confident approach to personal communications and the maintenance of discretion and confidentiality.
Demonstrate the ability to work on own initiative, enthusiasm and commitment to high quality standards.
Ability to communicate effectively with senior management, customers, suppliers and other members of staff.
Ability to work alone, and as part of a team.
Good verbal and written communication.
Proficient and fully conversant in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Demonstrate a flexible approach to work, self-motivated with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
Experience of working in an engineering manufacturing / factory-based environment is essential.
Experience of planning using an ERP system
A full clean driving license
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing philosophies including Kanban, would be an advantage
