As an Outdoor Trials Technician, you will be working as part of a small team carrying out function testing of company stores at BAEs Hexham facility based in the Ridsdale Gun Range (postcode is NE48 2EZ). You will assist in the development and setting of test arenas and equipment as required to customer specifications. The entirety of the position involves working outside in all weathers, so prior experience of outdoor work is essential.
This role is responsible for ensuring allocated tests and trials are completed in a safe manner to the highest quality standards, to customer time and cost constraints; and, proactively driving a strong safety culture.
Duties:- Ensure all equipment required for test and trials are maintained to a high standard and suitable for the task.
- Use of lifting equipment including fork lift trucks.
- Completion of equipment records.
- Setting up, operation and breaking down of test arenas.
- Providing test data to the Trials Engineer as part of a test report for the customer.
- Continuous Improvement of the Ridsdale range test facilities and capabilities.
- Ensure compliance with the requirements of SHE legislation and Business safe systems of work for self and others.
- Carry out training as and when required.
- Any other reasonable duties as required by the General Manager.
- Prior outdoors work, ideally in a hands on/heavily physical occupation.
- Experience of working within a mechanical environment and mechanical skills essential.
- Robust nature essential as will involve working outside in +30deg to -12 deg.
- Applicants with prior Armed Forces experience would be of particular interest to the business.
- Team player in small teams.
- Any prior use of lifting equipment (including forklift trucks) would be highly beneficial.
- Have a positive ‘can do' attitude.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 desirable.
- Use of SAP, Microsoft Office and Teamcenter are desirable.
- Have a recognised Safety and Health Management qualification e.g. IOSH, desirable.
