Our client Scottish Power Renewables are currently recruiting for an Offshore Installation Manager based in Lowestoft on a long-term contract basis initially. Ideally for this role they are looking for someone with strong experience within Construction Management and within large scale offshore wind farm projects.

Main Purpose of Job:

  • Ensure Q&HSE policies and procedures are maintained during the offshore works.
  • Overall analysis, recommendation and optimisation of installation and logistics concepts for the offshore installation.
  • Implement offshore installation management procedures.
  • Ensure the installation subcontractor's compliance with its contractual obligations, company procedures and legislation for all marine operations, in particular lifting operations and simultaneous operations.
  • Has real knowledge and understanding of the project structure during construction and for the role of each person on the project.
  • Ensure that competent personnel are appointed to the project team.
  • Is totally aware of the contractor's installations on site, the contract representatives and the supervising engineers and general all team leaders of the contractors working for the project.
  • Is responsible to follow up the construction activity, crew transfer vessels, marine coordinator function, weather reports and forecast.
  • Is fully aware of the location of every contractor working on the project, their accomplishments, problems and predictions for the activities and the program.
  • Control progress and costs of the project through continuous review of project reports including cost control reports and schedules.
  • Ensure orderly hand-over & close-out of the project, obtain final certificates, archive all project documentation and prepare all close out documentation.
  • Support with development of all installation related processes and documents for controlling and coordination of the offshore site.
  • Daily coordination of the works between the different contractors.

Key Tasks:

  • Promoting a strong, clear and positive health and safety culture for all primary activities, and secondary activities including interfaces.
  • Preparing and checking of all key installation documents.
  • Development and management of the package installation procedures and processes.
  • Manage all offshore quality issues and immediately communicate with the respective parties regarding the nature of events / incidents / problems during construction.
  • Managing installation contracts and coordinating installation activities on site ensuring system in place to record daily facts for the purpose of contract variations, weather allowances and incentive schemes with the contractor.
  • Responsible for the site personnel performance.
  • Attend progress meetings with the installation contractor and take receipt of progress reports.
  • Responsibility for sign off of completion certificates etc.
  • Ensure that the installation activities are completed to specification and schedules.
  • Organise the project team and motivate its members towards successful achievement of specified project goals, particularly through regular project meetings.
  • Assume the offshore construction manager's responsibilities in the absence of the offshore construction manager.
  • Clarification of the interferences with the involved contractors: prioritisation of works if necessary refusal of planned works if necessary.
  • Signing the PTWs (approval or refusal).
  • Daily tracking of the status of works and disrupted workflows in relation to the installation schedule.
  • Evaluation of the run-up time monitoring/expectations and consequences to the installation schedule on a weekly basis.
  • Planning the works of the contractors for the upcoming days/weeks to avoid interferences between the contractors.
  • Prepare resource allocation plan in relation to offshore installation activities.
  • Implementation of the offshore site installation strategy, including organisation and responsibilities, meeting structure, plans and procedures.
  • Keep the offshore site installation strategy and offshore installation related plans updated.
  • Manage and secure interfaces in regard to installation and commissioning.

Key Criteria:

  • Strong experience within construction management, preferable large scale offshore wind farm projects.
  • Documented experience within HSE Management and willing and able to travel independently to our other sites and partner sites as required.
  • Leading and managing installation teams.
  • GWO's and offshore medical required.
