This is a hands-on 2nd/3rd line support role for a highly secure nuclear facility, ideal for a seasoned Infrastructure Engineer with broad technical expertise, especially in Microsoft technologies, virtualization, and end-user computing (EUC). The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining, supporting, and enhancing critical IT services on-site, drawing from a deep background in server builds, virtual environments, SCCM, patching, and EUC deployments.

Operational Support in a Regulated Environment:

  • Provide direct technical support for outage events, infrastructure updates, and operational continuity. Support mission-critical systems and respond to incidents swiftly within a high-security, high-regulation environment.

2nd/3rd Line Incident Resolution & Infrastructure Support:

  • Resolve escalated IT incidents across a wide range of systems, including Windows Server (2008R2–2019), Microsoft 365, VMware, and VDI platforms. Troubleshoot and optimize infrastructure configurations and applications.

End-User Computing (EUC) Deployment & Lifecycle:

  • Execute desktop/laptop imaging, OS and application deployments, endpoint security, and Intune/SCCM patch automation in line with site policies.

Virtualization and Infrastructure Projects:

  • Assist with ongoing infrastructure upgrades, including ESXi host builds, VDI implementation (Horizon), and server migrations.

Asset and Configuration Management:

  • Maintain up-to-date asset inventories and system configurations in alignment with my client’s ITIL-based governance frameworks.

Broad Experience:

  • 5+ years in IT across infrastructure engineering, support, and project implementation within government, energy, and defense sectors.

Systems & Server Expertise:

  • Microsoft Server (2008R2 to 2019), Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, Exchange 2016, SCCM/MECM, Powershell scripting.
  • Experience building out full environments from scratch.

Networking & Security:

  • Familiarity with switching, routing, TCP/IP, endpoint encryption (McAfee EPO), Nessus vulnerability remediation.

Tools & Automation:

  • SCCM, Intune, WSUS, App packaging (PSADT), SQL, Robocopy, and compliance reporting.

ITIL Framework:

  • Strong break/fix skills with HP, Dell servers and workstations; This role is site-based at a secure nuclear facility and requires adherence to stringent safety, operational, and data handling protocols.
