We are recruiting on behalf of a leading defence and technology organisation that delivers advanced maritime and mission‑critical solutions to customers worldwide. This is a permanent opportunity for a Buyer – Indirect Procurement to join a fast‑paced and highly regulated environment, supporting the sourcing of indirect goods and services across the business. The successful candidate will play a key role in supplier management, contract negotiation, cost control and ensuring continuity of supply to support operational and project requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate supplier contracts using procurement best‑practice tools
  • Balance cost, quality and delivery requirements
  • Issue RFQs and purchase orders in line with company and government regulations
  • Maintain accurate supplier, part and cost data within ERP systems
  • Ensure continuity of supply and proactively manage supply chain risks
  • Manage supplier order books, expediting and prioritising orders
  • Identify and deliver cost‑reduction and value‑improvement opportunities
  • Liaise with production, QA and programme teams
  • Ensure on‑time, in‑full delivery of materials and services
  • Monitor market trends and assess supplier capability
  • Conduct supplier performance reviews and drive improvement actions
  • Support procurement KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manage defective material returns and replacement procurement
