Our client is a leading engineering and design consultancy that specialises in a range of sectors, notably civil engineering.
They currently require a Ground Investigation Engineer to join their business and support on a range of field-based ground investigation projects.
Job Description
- Task management including supply chain co-ordination and procurement
- Field based work undertaken across the UK, including:
- Site management of ground investigations and associated works, with a strong focus on health and safety management and documentation.
- The collection of site characterisation data, including soil, rock & groundwater sampling.
- The logging of soils and rock to appropriate British Standards and undertaking in-situ field testing.
- The scheduling of samples for laboratory analysis
- The compilation of factual ground investigation reports
Requirements:
- BSc qualified (or higher) in Geology, or equivalent Earth Science.
- Experience of working on site and in supervising contractors e.g. drillers
- Minimum of 12 months experience of working on geo-environmental projects (i.e. geotechnical or contamination)
- An awareness of hazards and risk management associated with ground investigations, including health & safety, budgetary and technical considerations
- SSSTS / SMSTS preferable
- Proficient report writer – Factual Ground Investigation Reporting
- Working towards professional membership and chartership.
- Desired – Rail / Highway sector experience
