Are you a Graduate Scientist or Engineer looking to apply your technical skills to develop innovative maritime and underwater technologies for the defence industry? TKMS ATLAS UK have designed their Engineering Graduate Programme to support those with a passion for Engineering to grow into the next generation of specialists to develop cutting‑edge maritime technology for worldwide customers and the UK Royal Navy.

This role exists to develop your technical capability while contributing to real engineering problems from day one. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and scientists, applying theory in a practical environment while building the foundations of a long‑term engineering career. Day-to-day, you could be working in any of the following areas:

  • Contributing to research and development activities across sonar and underwater platform signature domains
  • Supporting the development of hardware, software and sensing systems
  • Assisting with signal processing, data analysis and algorithm development
  • Carrying out modelling and simulation of underwater environments and system behaviour
  • Working with signal processing, image analysis, data science and machine learning
  • Developing detection and classification algorithms
  • Analysing acoustic and non-acoustic data
  • Simulating and modelling of the physics of sonar systems and generation and propagation of acoustic and non-acoustic signatures in the underwater environment
  • Test and measurement of acoustic and non-acoustic systems, including those on in-service submarine sonars
  • Producing technical reports and documentation to support projects and bids
  • Undertake occasional UK and overseas travel to support projects

You’ll be offered a permanent role from day one and enrolled on a structured two‑year Graduate Scheme.

TKMS ATLAS UK are looking for motivated graduates with strong problem‑solving skills and a passion for engineering and science. You’ll bring:

  • A degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a related discipline
  • An interest in science, engineering or the marine environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work effectively within a team and build professional relationships
  • Good organisation and time‑management skills
  • Confidence using standard IT tools (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • A proactive mindset and willingness to learn
