About the Role:
Join a growing energy transmission team of a Global Consultancy as an Electrical Cable Engineer specialising in HVAC and/or HVDC systems. You'll lead technical design, routing, and installation planning of high-voltage cables in large infrastructure and renewable energy projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead or support design and engineering of high-voltage (HV) cable systems (66kV-400kV)
- Perform cable sizing, rating studies, thermal and electrical analysis (e.g., Cymcap)
- Route selection and cable layout design for land and subsea applications
- Prepare specifications for cables, joints, terminations, and installation works
- Interface with civil teams on trenching, ducting, and environmental considerations
- Support procurement, factory inspections (FATs), and site installation works
- Ensure compliance with IEC, CIGRE, and ENA cable standards
Requirements:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems
- Experience with HVAC or HVDC cable systems for utilities, offshore wind, or interconnectors
- Understanding of cable construction, testing, and installation techniques
- Familiarity with design tools like Cymcap, PLS-CADD, or PowerFactory
- Awareness of cable failure modes, thermal management, and EMF
- Excellent communication and technical reporting skills
