My client is a leading Lloyd’s market insurer seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join its growing Data Science & Analytics function in London. This is a newly created position within a highly collaborative and commercially focused analytics team, supporting the organisation’s continued investment in modern analytics, underwriting insight, and data-driven decision making across the business.
Sitting at the intersection of underwriting analytics, BI engineering, stakeholder engagement, and analytics governance, the role will play a key part in helping evolve the function from traditional reporting delivery toward more advanced, value-added analytics and operational maturity.
The Senior Data Analyst will be expected to:
- Act as a senior analytics partner to underwriting, claims, and exposure management teams, helping drive commercially focused decision-making.
- Lead complex Power BI and SQL analytics workstreams across a modern Azure-based data environment.
- Develop and optimise Power BI semantic models, dashboards, DAX calculations, and reporting solutions.
- Contribute to Power BI workspace governance, deployment pipelines, Dev/Test/Prod processes, and reporting quality assurance.
- Work closely with Data Engineering teams on curated data layers, semantic modelling, and analytics platform enhancements.
- Support and mentor junior analysts across SQL, Power BI, data modelling, and analytics delivery best practice.
- Contribute to the adoption of AI and LLM tooling within analytics processes, including automation, code generation, and insight generation.
- Partner with stakeholders across underwriting, operations, and technology functions within an Agile delivery environment.
The successful Senior Data Analyst will possess:
- ~5-10 years’ experience within Data Analytics, BI, or Reporting-focused roles.
- ~ Advanced SQL and Power BI expertise, including DAX, Power Query, data modelling, and dashboard development.
- ~ Experience working with Azure-based data environments such as Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks, or Fabric.
- ~ Strong stakeholder engagement and business partnering capability, particularly within underwriting or commercial insurance functions.
- ~ Understanding of Power BI governance, deployment pipelines, semantic modelling, and analytics engineering best practice.
