We\'re looking for a Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) and Transport Planner. Based at our Capenhurst site, you\'ll establish the management framework for the transport of Dangerous Goods in accordance with statutory requirements. Provides a specialised DGSA, transport planning and execution service for UUK and a DGSA service to UCP to enable all business and customer requirements to be met in accordance with contract specification and all deliveries are made on time whilst ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible as the principal Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor for UUK and UCP to advise on all operational and regulatory aspects of radioactive materials.
  • Monitors compliance with the requirements governing the carriage of dangerous goods.
  • Accountable for managing the updates of Company procedures and transport compliance matrices relating to national and international radioactive materials.
  • Ensures that all transport related procedures and working instructions reflect current working practices and regularly prepares, reviews and updates instructions.
  • Evaluates and authorises documentation required to perform national and international radioactive materials and dangerous goods transports to ensure that all deliveries are fully compliant with customer\'s requirements and all applicable legislation.
  • Provides day-to-day supervision and guidance to the UUK transport team to ensure that all transport related activities are prioritised and carried out accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provides awareness training to identified individuals involved in the provision of duties in the transport chain.
  • Undertakes transport inspections and audits on site and as part of the Group Transport Supplier Audit Programme.
  • Manages and develops the training requirements around transport of dangerous goods and increase awareness of the risks inherent in the roles of carriage, loading and unloading.

Qualifications

  • Must hold recognised transport qualifications to consign radioactive materials and dangerous goods by road, sea and air and revalidate the qualifications as required.
  • Highly proficient in the use of SAP, Excel and other relevant software.
  • Exceptional attention to detail such that there is a consistently high level of data input accuracy.
  • Excellent understanding of plant and transport operations with a broader understanding of Company and Group-wide processes and organisational roles, typically gained through several years of experience.
