Job Summary: Senior Electrical Design Engineer with a thorough understanding of all aspects of electrical design, working within the aerospace industry.
Scope of Responsibilities: Based in Cwmbran, South Wales, working as part of the Electrical Design Department. Responsible for the management of teams producing electrical installation models and detail drawings for new product and platform designs. Also responsible for the checking and approval of all electrical design work to meet company, regulatory and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Manage electrical engineering platform teams.
- Ensure standards and performances are achieved by the design team.
- Supervise and coordinate design activities.
- Manage and control daily attendance and holidays for your engineering team, including absence management.
- Assist in recruitment of team members as required.
- Carry out professional development reviews and ensure any KPI set for the year is achieved.
- Manage and deliver electrical systems programmes as per agreed schedules and budgets, responsible for the electrical submittals.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies such as EASA, FAA, Boeing and Airbus to certify the electrical systems installed in their aircraft.
- Check and approve system drawings and documents, ensuring compliance to OEM and regulatory requirements.
- Produce or update electrical standard and process documentation.
- Liaise with electrical equipment manufacturers to finalize the equipment and their installation specification.
- Report to senior management about the status of the programmes.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, suppliers and OEMs.
- Participate in design reviews throughout each phase of the new product introduction process.
- Select and apply materials and processes appropriate to each design element.

Knowledge, Experience, Training and Qualifications:
- Experienced in leading and developing others, managing workload and resources across multiple programmes concurrently, ideally within the aerospace industry, and developing a robust process to monitor team productivity on a regular basis.
- Qualified to a minimum of degree in a Mechanical, Aerospace or Structural Engineering field.
- Alternatively, an HNC/HND or an equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Aerospace or Structural Engineering with extensive experience in mechanical systems design and in developing concept and detailing engineering solutions.
- Significant experience gained in project leadership through a full programme lifecycle.
- Highly proficient with experience in CATIA and PLM.
- Strong ability to plan and schedule design activities across multiple design modules.
