Composite Fitter Role Overview We are seeking a skilled Composite Fitter with hands-on experience in aerospace manufacturing to join our production team. This contract will be for 6 months and based overseas. As a Composite Fitter you will be responsible for: β€’ Precise lay-up, trimming, fitting, and assembly of composite components, with a strong emphasis on pre-preg composite materials. β€’ Ensuring high-quality, safety-critical parts are manufactured to aerospace standards

Rates: Β£51.54 UMB Contract Length: 6 months from start date, with option for extension Expenses allowance Need to be eligable for UK Security Clearance Right to work in the EU is essential The Role The Composite Fitter will play a vital role in the delivery of high-quality aerospace components, working collaboratively with colleagues across engineering, production, programmes and quality teams. The role requires not only strong technical ability but also the professionalism to represent the business with integrity when interacting with internal teams and external stakeholders both in the UK and overseas.
Duties and Tasks β€’ Carry out autoclave loading/unloading and monitor curing process β€’ Collaborate with engineering, quality, programmes and production teams to resolve builds. β€’ Complete production documentation and maintain accurate records β€’ Inspect materials and finished components for defects, ensuring quality standards are met β€’ Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment in line with our HSE policies β€’ Operate hand tools, power tools, and cutting equipment safely and accurately β€’ Perform lay-up, de-bulking, and vacuum bagging of pre-preg composite materials β€’ Trim, drill, fit and assemble composite components to engineering drawings and specifications β€’ Work to tight tolerances and follow detailed work instructions, build manuals, and aerospace standards
Person Specification The successful candidate will be hands-on, detail-focused, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional team. They will bring confidence, precision, and pride in their craft to ensure that all composite structures meet stringent aerospace standards. Skills: β€’ Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications β€’ Familiarity with autoclave and oven curing operations β€’ Excellent interpersonal skills β€’ Skilled in hand-fitting, trimming, and bonding composite parts β€’ Strong attention to detail and ability to work to high levels of accuracy β€’ Strong organisational skills
Knowledge: β€’ NVQ Level 3 in Aeronautical or Composite Manufacturing, or equivalent experience β€’ Experience of working with pre-preg composite materials in the aerospace industry β€’ Experience of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement β€’ Experience with clean room or temperature-controlled environments β€’ Knowledge of NDT processes for composites (e.g., ultrasonic inspection) β€’ Strong understanding of composite lay-up techniques, curing processes, and aerospace standards β€’ Understanding of aerospace certification requirements (e.g., AS9100) Conduct and Behaviours β€’ Ability to work independently as well as being a team player β€’ A positive β€˜can do\’ attitude with the ability to deliver exceptional customer service β€’ Creative and resourceful under pressure β€’ Forward thinking β€’ Prioritise workload with minimal supervision, in order to meet deadlines β€’ Resilient and self-motivated β€’ Willingness and ability to travel overseas Whilst this job overview is not intended to be exhaustive, it is likely that duties may be altered from time to time in light of changing circumstances and to reflect any other reasonable duties required to effectively execute this role.
