About the Company
Morson Talent is working in partnership with a leading organisation to recruit a Commercial Director to play a key role in power infrastructure projects. This is a unique opportunity to provide strategic commercial leadership within a highly regulated environment, ensuring the successful commercial execution of projects while mitigating risks and maximising value.
As part of the senior leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the commercial function, supporting contract compliance, managing risk, and optimising commercial outcomes. This role is ideally suited for a commercially astute professional with direct and extensive experience working with National Grid on Electricity Transmission and Distribution projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic Commercial Leadership: Ensure the effective commercial management of projects, supporting optimal contract recovery and successful commercial close-out.
- Contract Governance: Ensure adherence to company governance, policies, and contract-specific requirements.
- Tender and Supply Chain Oversight: Oversee the commercial robustness of tender submissions and ensure optimal supply chain contract administration.
- Risk Management: Identify, analyse, and develop responses to commercial risks, ensuring that risks, liabilities, and opportunities are effectively managed.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and suppliers.
- Financial and Reporting Excellence: Ensure financial reports are accurate, transparent, and provide reliable insights. Monitor cash flow and contract performance.
- Dispute Resolution: Manage claims, set deadlines, and oversee resolution strategies for the best commercial outcomes.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven expertise in power infrastructure projects, with experience managing portfolios of projects, ideally from a tier 1 contractor background.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field (RICS / CICES accredited).
- Full Membership of RICS or CICES.
- Extensive experience working with National Grid on Electricity Transmission & Distribution projects.
- Strong commercial and contractual acumen with the ability to manage risks and optimise financial performance.
- Exceptional stakeholder management, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Highly developed strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in drafting contractual correspondence and developing procurement strategies.
