As a Bid Manager, you lead and co-ordinate the entire bid process to secure new business opportunities within the sales sector. You are responsible for developing comprehensive bid strategies, managing timelines, and ensuring the submission of high-quality, compliant, and competitive proposals. Your role involves engaging with internal stakeholders to gather necessary information and aligning bid content to meet client requirements effectively.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement bid strategies that align with organisational objectives and client needs.
- Manage the end-to-end bid process, including planning, coordination, writing, and reviewing bid documentation.
- Ensure all bid submissions comply with relevant guidelines, legal requirements, and organisational standards.
- Collaborate with sales, technical, finance, and legal teams to gather information and develop compelling content for bids.
- Establish and maintain bid timelines, monitor progress, and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
- Analyse client requirements and tender documents to identify key deliverables and value propositions.
- Conduct risk assessments and provide mitigation strategies for bid submissions.
- Maintain a repository of bid templates, standard content, and lessons learned to improve future bids.
- Support post-bid reviews and provide feedback to improve the bid process and success rate.
- Attend meetings and presentations as a representative of the bid team, supporting sales efforts where required.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in bid or proposal management within a sales or commercial environment.
- Strong understanding of tender and bid processes, including public and private sector procurement procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and persuasive bid documents.
- Demonstrable organisational and project management skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple bids simultaneously.
Experience
- Typically, a minimum of three to five years\’ experience in bid management or a similar role within sales or commercial sectors.
- Experience working in a contract environment is advantageous.
Knowledge and Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of bid management best practises and sales cycles.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret client requirements and translate them into winning proposals.
- Proficient in using bid management software, document management systems, and standard office applications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to engage and influence cross-functional teams.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and demonstrate proactive problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification in bid or proposal management such as APMP Foundation or equivalent.
- Experience in the sales industry within Northern Europe or the United Kingdom.
- Familiarity with ISO quality standards and compliance requirements.
