Morson Projects’ sister company Waldeck are recruiting for a Clerk of Works to join their growing team on a temporary basis. We are recruiting for a Clerk of Works to be based within our busy commercial team for 4 days per week on a temporary contract. You will be responsible for overseeing the quality and safety of work on site, making sure that building plans and specifications are being followed correctly.

The Role:

  • Chair and minute meetings, ensuring accurate records that protect client and business interests.
  • Guide, mentor, and support junior team members.
  • Ensure all documentation meets internal policies, compliance checks, and authorisation requirements.
  • Review and advise on drawings, specifications, and contracts, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Inspect site works to ensure quality and compliance with statutory and technical requirements.
  • Monitor site progress, identify potential issues early, and report on programme performance.
  • Record site visit data, including photos, weather, and workforce details, to support service delivery.
  • Manage snagging, back-snagging, and handover processes to ensure contract scope and quality are achieved.
  • Coordinate and resolve defects during the defect period, ensuring all documentation is complete.
  • Prepare and review contract documents and reports, and support training for junior staff on documentation.
  • Visit sites to assess progress, advise on payment applications, and support accurate contractor payments.
  • Manage change control processes, ensuring contract changes are properly instructed and documented.
  • Track and report on contract notices, instructions, and certifications such as payment notices and extensions of time.
  • Check and advise on fee proposals, supporting bids and new business opportunities.
  • Attend industry events and liaise with contractors and clients to support business development.

About You:

  • Proven experience working as a Clerk of Works, Site Inspector, or Quality Assurance Officer on residential construction projects.
  • A recognised construction-related qualification (e.g., HNC/HND, NVQ Level 4 or higher, or equivalent experience).
  • Strong understanding of building regulations, and relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Track record of ensuring construction work is completed to required quality standards, specifications, and timescales.
  • Experience in identifying defects, snagging, and producing clear reports for project teams.
  • Membership of a professional body (e.g., ICWCI, CIOB, RICS) or working towards it would be advantageous.
