To support a growing pipeline of exciting power civils engineering projects, we are recruiting for a Senior/Principal Civil Engineer. The role involves working closely with other disciplines on various new-build substations, substation upgrades/extensions and other electrical infrastructure, e.g. onshore wind farms and solar farms. You will have opportunity to work on projects across various sectors and ranging from a few thousand to multi-million pounds in capital value. As part of this role you will also act as a mentor to junior team members, utilising your skills and expertise to provide advice and guidance. The responsibilities within this role include: * Managing a team of colleagues working across multiple projects * Overseeing the work and ensuring quality control on design packages. * Undertake technical and feasibility studies and site investigations. * Assist in tendering procedures and proposals. * Visit sites and advise on engineering issues. * Oversee the work of junior staff or mentoring designers. * Communicate and liaise effectively with colleagues, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers and clients. * Manage budgets and other project schedules. * Manage changes related to the design. Identify and notify relevant parties of changes in the project Utilise a range of design computer packages for designing projects and undertaking complex and repetitive. The ideal candidate will have the below skills and experience: * HND or degree level qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering. * Ideally IEng or CEng with membership of relevant professional engineering institution, e.g. ICE, IStructE. * Minimum 5 years civil/structural design experience on substation projects * Experience of working within Electrical Transmission and Distribution sectors. * Good understanding of CDM requirements. * Good understanding of UK Environmental and Waste Management legislation and requirements. * Good knowledge of National Grid's Transmission Procedures, in particular: TP106, TP135, TP137, TP141, TP153, TP184, TP188, TP219, TP221, TP235, TP241. * To supervise and mentor others.
