We’re looking for a proactive and detail-focused Credit Controller to join our Accounts team. This role is central to maintaining positive client relationships, managing aged debt and supporting financial stability across the organisation. You will play a key role in managing debtor accounts, maintaining accurate records and supporting the wider finance team with efficient processes and strong risk management.
What You’ll DoAs a Credit Controller, you will support the day-to-day management of client accounts and credit processes, including:
- Managing client accounts, including allocating cash, reconciling accounts and processing payments using internal systems
- Proactively contacting clients via phone, email and other channels to manage outstanding balances
- Issuing invoices through email and client portals in line with agreed processes
- Producing aged debt reports and supporting monthly reviews with Group and Company Finance Directors
- Liaising with internal departments and managers to resolve account queries efficiently
- Conducting credit vetting, monitoring client creditworthiness and applying for credit insurance and sanction checks
- Supporting risk management activities, including reporting potential bad debts and liaising with legal teams or solicitors where required
- Assisting with raising invoices and credit notes as needed
- Supporting general accounts administration and contributing to continuous improvement across finance processes
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C or equivalent)
- Previous experience in credit control, accounts receivable or finance administration (preferred)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and administrative capability
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage deadlines and work effectively under pressure
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
- Proficiency in Excel, Outlook and sales ledger systems
