Technical Integration Engineer β RSAF Tornado Avionics
Location: Warton (minimum 3 days on site β 2 days Warton 1 day Samlesbury per week)
Duration: 12 Months
Hours: 37 hours per week
Rate: Β£37 p/h PAYE (Β£42.38 p/h including holiday pay) or Β£49.83 p/h Umbrella
Clearance: BPSS required, can start with an SC application SC in progress
Additional Requirements: Subject to ITAR regulations and willingness to travel internationally, including Saudi Arabia, when required.
This is an exciting role within the RSAF Tornado On-Aircraft Engineering Team situated in the UK. The RSAF Tornado remains fully operational and support to KSA operations remains one of the corner stones that will underpin the platforms operational capability to the RSAF Tornado Out Of Service Date.
A vacancy exists for a Technical Integration Engineer β Avionics, to join the UK BAES SA UK On Aircraft Engineering Team. You will be part of an established On Aircraft Engineering team. The culture is one where you will be trusted to manage your own work, come up with suggestions, take initiative, report and resolve Avionic related issues . We have a wealth of engineering background within our BAES SA UK Engineering Team and everyone takes pride in supporting their colleagues to achieve Safety and Governance milestones.
There are a number of elements to this role:
- Taking ownership and responding to Avionic technical queries raised by the KSA Technical Services team, including liaison with specialist areas within BAES. The technical queries can be at LRU or system level.
- Working with and integrating the wider stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of queries.
- Supporting on-going Aircrew Training Device activities, including update activities and obsolescence issues.
- Supporting on-going platform obsolescence activities.
- Supporting the transition of the business to meet future requirements.
- Possible travel to KSA to support In Kingdom activities and RSAF (customer) facing meetings.
- A key element of this role will also be working alongside the KSA Technical team, our partners and external key stakeholders, including CDO/ SDU Technical teams/ leads.
Typical Duties:
- Performing Engineering Integration activities in order to resolve Avionic queries, provide support to Aircrew Training Device activities and provide support to platform obsolescence activities.
- Ensuring high quality and timely artefacts are delivered in line with programme requirements.
- Leading engineering planning, management and review activities.
- Supporting the development of Engineering priorities to ensure overall programme aims are achieved.
- Developing strong relationships with other team members & external stakeholders such as Ministry of Defence.
Requirements:
Essential
- Knowledge of Avionic systems at both LRU (Line Replaceable Unit) level and system level.
- Good understanding and application of a quality approach to engineering.
- A good understanding of engineering processes, engineering lifecycle, standards and governance
- Systems thinking
- Strong team-work skills
- Proactive approach to problem solving
- Ability to resolve engineering conflicts between stakeholders, systems and capabilities
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with a diverse set of stakeholders
- Computer Literate (Microsoft Word, Project, Powerpoint and Excel)
Desireable:
- Knowledge of RSAF Tornado is beneficial
- Knowledge of Propulsion/Engines
