A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Project Controls Lead to join the team with our prestigious client BAE Systems at their site in Warton.

The Project Control Lead will be responsible for the effective application of the Project Control (Project Control System) elements required to appropriately manage the Spartan project. They will work under the direction of the Project Management & Control Manager to implement improvements and may be asked to identify potential improvements based on previous experience or best practice.

The Project Control Lead will have significant experience in the delivery of Project Control activities including toolsets and good practice specific to Monitoring and Control and other sub-disciplines including Resource Forecasting, Risk & Opportunities Management, Scheduling etc. The Project Control Lead will support key Financial activities such as period reforecasting, monthly Contract Status Reviews, quarter Estimates and Completion refreshes.

Typical duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Agree Project Control approach with stakeholders and perform intermediate project controls including reporting (tool based, MS Office based presentations).
  • Undertake intermediate level problem solving typically based on previous experience, escalating to PM&C Manager as required.
  • Proactive drive to meet deadlines in line with the business calendar and have a high degree of self-autonomy.
  • Lead Project Control processes on the Spartan project across the full project lifecycle, providing guidance to others as required.
  • Help to drive the activities which ensure financial and other benefits are achieved.
  • Work with the Change and Risk PM to identify, assess and manage risks to the success of the project.
  • Apply appropriate Project Control methods and tools whether predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.

Knowledge

  • Comprehensive knowledge of a range of Project Control methodologies and toolsets.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Air Project Control policies, processes, procedures and tools e.g. Compass.
  • Good understanding of (or active interest in) the wider Project Control environment, and developments and practices in the field.
  • Good understanding of how own team integrates with other teams & projects in order to achieve objectives.

Skills

  • Experience of influencing stakeholders typically inside the company.
  • Experience of building relationships and negotiating outcomes with internal stakeholders.
  • Experience of problem solving techniques, in the field of Project Control, utilising data and information from internal (project) sources and external (customer, competitor and academic) sources to resolve.
  • Ability to gather and synthesise complex data into management information.
  • Able to make judgements, recommendations and provide advice on analysis of factual information.

Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance.
