We are currently recruiting for an experienced Fabricator / Welder to join a busy fabrication workshop in Walsall.
This role involves the manufacture of medium to heavy fabricated steel structures, working from engineering drawings and company-controlled documentation.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting workshop operations while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Manufacture medium and heavy fabricated structures from engineering drawings.
- Cut, drill, tack and weld materials to required specifications and tolerances.
- Complete fabrication work in line with company procedures and quality standards.
- Maintain material traceability and accurately record stock usage.
- Complete workshop checklists and production documentation.
- Assist with goods-in activities, checking deliveries and materials received.
- Operate overhead cranes safely within the workshop environment.
- Support site installation activities when required.
- Package finished products ready for delivery.
- Contribute to stock audits and annual stock checks.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and health & safety standards.
- Work closely with the fabrication team and management to deliver work within agreed timescales.
Requirements
Essential
- Experience in medium to heavy fabrication and welding.
- NVQ in Fabrication & Welding or equivalent.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- CSCS Card.
- Experience operating an overhead crane.
- Qualified and experienced in plasma and oxy-cutting equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
- Team player with a proactive approach to work.
Desirable
- Previous site installation experience.
- Forklift licence.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
