Site Supervisor - Highways / Civils

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Supervisor to join a major highways infrastructure project covering Darlington and Newcastle.

The role will involve supervising reinforced concrete bases and associated civil engineering/highways works, working closely with site teams, subcontractors, engineers and senior management to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme.

This is a hands-on Site Supervisor position suited to someone with a strong background in highways or civil engineering who is confident managing day-to-day site activities and site teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day highways and civil engineering works, including reinforced concrete bases
  • Coordinate subcontractors, labour, plant and materials
  • Ensure works are carried out safely and in accordance with RAMS and project requirements
  • Monitor progress and ensure works remain on programme
  • Conduct toolbox talks, briefings and site inductions where required
  • Maintain accurate site records and relevant project documentation
  • Monitor quality and ensure works meet the required standards and specifications
  • Liaise with Site Agents, Engineers, Project Managers and other stakeholders
  • Identify and resolve issues on site proactively
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality procedures

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Site Supervisor within highways, civils or infrastructure
  • Strong experience supervising site teams and subcontractors
  • Experience with reinforced concrete / concrete base works is highly desirable
  • Gold CSCS Card - Essential
  • SSSTS or SMSTS - Essential
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications
  • Good understanding of RAMS, health & safety and quality procedures
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy, high-pressure site environment
