We are currently looking for an experienced Logistics Site Manager to support the delivery of a construction project at HMP Northumberland, with the primary focus being on the development of new housing blocks located outside the existing prison perimeter.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day logistics and coordination of the site, ensuring that materials, labour, plant and deliveries are effectively organised to keep the project moving safely and efficiently.
You will manage a small team of approximately 6 labourers, coordinating their daily activities and ensuring that materials and resources are available when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day site logistics for the new housing block development.
- Coordinate and manage a team of approximately 6 labourers.
- Organise the ordering, delivery, storage and distribution of materials around site.
- Coordinate deliveries and ensure materials are available to support the programme of works.
- Manage site access, unloading areas, storage locations and general site organisation.
- Allocate daily tasks to labourers and monitor productivity.
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, site management and the wider project team.
- Ensure materials, plant and equipment are correctly located and safely managed.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Support site management with daily planning and coordination of activities.
- Ensure all works are undertaken in accordance with RAMS, health & safety requirements and site procedures.
- Attend site meetings and provide updates on logistics, labour and material requirements.
- Assist with identifying potential logistical issues before they impact the programme.
- Ensure compliance with security requirements associated with working on a prison environment.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a Site Manager, Logistics Manager, Logistics Site Manager, Site Supervisor or similar, ideally within a construction environment involving new-build residential or commercial projects.
Essential qualifications / requirements:
- SMSTS
- CSCS
- Asbestos Awareness
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Basic DBS
- Ability to obtain and maintain BPSS clearance
- Previous experience managing labour and coordinating subcontractors.
- Strong understanding of construction site logistics and material management.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work proactively and manage competing priorities.
