Morson Edge are working with a leading provider of metering services within the UK energy retail sector to recruit a
Meter Reader to cover the
Slough and Reading areas (SL4, SL6, SL7, RG9 & RG10) .
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, is self-motivated and thrives in an independent role.
You will play a key role within the Metering team, responsible for collecting accurate meter readings across residential and commercial properties while delivering excellent customer service on behalf of some of the UK’s leading energy suppliers.
Full training is provided before moving into the field, giving you the skills and knowledge required to work confidently and independently.
The Opportunity
As a Meter Reader, you will be responsible for visiting residential and commercial properties to collect accurate meter readings using a handheld device.
You will plan your daily routes, travel between properties and accurately record meter information while ensuring a high level of customer service and professionalism at every visit.
This is an active outdoor role involving walking, driving and working in all weather conditions.
You will need to be comfortable working independently and managing your own workload while maintaining accuracy and productivity.
The role offers a
40-hour working week , with shifts available
Monday to Sunday between 8:00am and 8:00pm , so flexibility to work weekends is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Visit residential and commercial properties to obtain accurate meter readings.
- Record meter readings accurately using a handheld data collection device.
- Plan and manage your daily route effectively to maximise productivity.
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with customers.
- Gain access to internal and external meters safely and professionally.
- Work independently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures while working in the field.
- Represent the company professionally when visiting customer properties.
- Ensure all customer information and meter data is recorded correctly.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Walk and drive between properties depending on the area being covered.
Essential Skills & Experience
Full UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
- Previous customer service experience is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to walk several miles each day.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
- Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends.
- Friendly, professional and reliable approach.
