About the Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quality Engineer to join a well-established engineering and defence manufacturer based in West Yorkshire.

Working as part of an experienced Quality team, youll play a key role in supporting the manufacture of highly engineered products used on critical defence programmes. Youll work closely with Production, Engineering and Supply Chain teams to ensure quality standards are maintained, customer requirements are met and continuous improvement is embedded throughout the manufacturing process.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys being on the shop floor, solving problems, investigating quality issues and driving improvements within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The Role

As a Quality Engineer youll be responsible for supporting quality activities across manufacturing operations, ensuring products are delivered Right First Time whilst maintaining compliance with customer, regulatory and internal quality requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Investigating manufacturing quality issues and supporting Root Cause Analysis using tools such as 8D, 5 Whys and Fishbone.
  • Managing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and ensuring effective corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  • Supporting production teams to resolve quality concerns and minimise rework and scrap.
  • Conducting internal audits and supporting customer and third-party audits.
  • Reviewing engineering documentation, inspection records and quality documentation.
  • Supporting First Article Inspection (FAI) activities where required.
  • Monitoring quality performance and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams to improve product quality and manufacturing processes.
  • Supporting Quality Management System (QMS) compliance to ISO9001 and customer requirements.
  • Producing quality reports and communicating findings to key stakeholders.

What Were Looking For

Were looking for someone with experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment who enjoys solving technical problems and improving manufacturing quality.

Ideally youll have experience of:

  • Quality Engineering within manufacturing or engineering
  • Root Cause Analysis (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone etc.)
  • Non-Conformance (NCR) and CAPA management
  • Internal auditing
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Reading engineering drawings
  • Mechanical manufacturing processes
  • Working within ISO9001 or similar Quality Management Systems
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to work across Production, Engineering and Quality teams

Experience within defence, aerospace, automotive, heavy engineering or other highly regulated manufacturing sectors would be advantageous but is not essential.
