Our Client currently has an opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join their Platinum Group Metal Services Business in Royston. Working within the Maintenance team and reporting to the Maintenance Lead, the purpose of the role is to perform tasks necessary to ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of all primary and auxiliary production equipment and utility support systems at Royston.

The majority of time will be spent on mechanical tasks, including repairs, calibration, and testing, with additional responsibilities involving minor project work and supporting other maintenance duties as needed.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform Planned, Reactive, and Corrective Mechanical maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability across the plant.
  • Identify and execute plant modifications to improve safety and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with team members to drive proactive engineering programs, participate in failure investigations, and report reliability issues.
  • Support project teams during initial design stages, advising on equipment selection for improved reliability and maintainability.
  • Interpret technical drawings for planning and executing maintenance tasks.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as timesheets, work orders, and purchase requisitions to ensure accurate work history and financial accountability.
  • Conduct statutory and other testing to maintain ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 accreditation.
  • Issue permits and oversee contractor activities.

Applicants must be non-smokers and free from nicotine products for at least 3 months.

The successful candidate will join an established Mechanical Team within a top-tier COMAH site. This role requires an experienced, mechanically skilled maintenance technician capable of handling a wide range of practical mechanical tasks—from fabrication of pipework, steelwork, and plastics to troubleshooting and repairing plant faults safely. The role involves both reactive repairs and proactive maintenance, scheduled by our Maintenance planner.

The candidate will report directly to the Maintenance Lead. Experience in chemicals or large manufacturing environments is advantageous. Good communication skills across disciplines, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive attitude are essential for meeting tight deadlines.
