Cargill is looking for a skilled Mechanical Maintenance & Reliability Technician to join its established engineering team in Hull. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a wide variety of manufacturing equipment while developing your electrical skills through industry leading training.

Location: Hull

Salary: £48,500 - £50,500 + £2,500 Call Out Allowance + Excellent Benefits

Weekly Rotating shifts: Mon - Fri 8hrs per shift 6am to 2pm, 7am to 3pm, 2pm to 10pm

The Role

Working within a highly automated manufacturing environment, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and improving plant reliability through planned and reactive maintenance activities. The role combines preventative, predictive and reactive maintenance to ensure the site’s equipment continues to operate safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Responding to mechanical breakdowns and equipment failures
  • Fault finding and repairing production machinery
  • Working on pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Completing maintenance documentation using the CMMS
  • Supporting continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
  • Working closely with production to maximise plant uptime
  • Assisting with installation and improvement projects
  • Following safe working practices at all times

Required Skills

  • A recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC, Apprenticeship or equivalent)
  • Previous experience within manufacturing, food, FMCG, chemical or other industrial environments
  • Strong mechanical fault finding and maintenance experience
  • Experience working on rotating equipment, pumps, bearings, gearboxes or hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • A proactive approach to problem solving
  • Good communication skills and a team focused attitude

Desirable

  • Basic electrical fault-finding experience
  • PLC fault finding experience
  • Welding or fabrication experience
