Morson Edge are working with a leading global infrastructure consultancy to recruit an experienced Architecture Director / Technical Director to join their specialist Data Centre team.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced Architect or Architectural Technologist with a strong technical background in the Data Centre sector, who can lead complex multidisciplinary projects while developing long-term client relationships and supporting future business growth.

The role will work across a portfolio of projects in the UK, Ireland and Europe, providing technical and design leadership while working closely with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.

The Opportunity

As Architecture Director, you will take a leading role across a portfolio of Data Centre projects, overseeing architectural and engineering deliverables and ensuring projects are delivered to the required technical, commercial and quality standards.

Alongside project leadership, you will play an important role in developing key client relationships, supporting bids and identifying future opportunities within the Data Centre sector.

You will be responsible for maintaining oversight across multiple projects, identifying potential issues early and ensuring the appropriate resources and technical capability are in place to support successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Lead Designer / Consultant across a portfolio of Data Centre projects.
  • Coordinate discipline leads across Architecture and Engineering deliverables.
  • Provide technical and design leadership throughout project delivery.
  • Lead bids both commercially and technically for multidisciplinary opportunities.
  • Support pricing and commercial delivery, ensuring projects meet agreed fees and margins.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
  • Present to existing and prospective clients.
  • Identify and support opportunities for future project work and revenue growth.
  • Ensure internal governance, quality and risk management processes are followed.
  • Oversee design activities and the production of technical information.
  • Monitor project delivery against demanding programmes and deadlines.
  • Support other Directors with sector strategy and internal management.
  • Provide leadership and guidance across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Travel across the UK, Ireland and Europe as required.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Fully qualified Architect or Architectural Technologist, Chartered or equivalent.
  • Strong technical design background.
  • Recent and demonstrable experience working on Data Centre projects.
  • Experience leading complex multidisciplinary projects.
  • Proven experience in design management and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong understanding of building systems, regulations and construction types.
  • Experience working with different forms of building contract.
  • Commercial awareness and experience supporting bids, pricing or project governance.
  • Strong client-facing and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities and demanding deadlines.
  • Experience working within a consultancy or similar professional services environment.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

Location & Working Pattern

  • UK / Ireland โ€“ location flexible.
  • Preference for candidates based in or close to Manchester, Dublin or Belfast.
  • Hybrid working.
  • Regular travel across the UK, Ireland and Europe will be required.
