Scottish Power Renewables are looking for an ONSS Package Manager to join their EA2 project based in either London or Glasgow.

- Glasgow or London/hybrid style working, with some travel to Leiston as and when required
Working Pattern: Full-time (5 days/ week).

- Main Purpose of Job
To work within the Onshore Works Department to deliver the Civil, Electrical or Overhead Line & Cable construction works for major electrical transmission projects (mainly windfarms, 400k V / 275k V) to SPR safety, quality and environmental standards whilst ensuring financial and programme targets are met.
Projects could vary from new build, replacement, refurbishment, or other associated transmission projects.
The successful candidate will initially be assigned to the EA2 Offshore Wind Farm projects to act as the Onshore Substation (ONSS) Package Manager.
The EA2 offshore wind farm is a 960MW project currently in the construction stage and being built by SPR as part of the East Anglia Hub project.
The successful candidate will manage a large inter-disciplinary team to develop the onshore substation through to energisation and handover including all HV, LV and ancillary systems, programmed to be in 2028.
The further details of the role are as follows.
To lead the integrated team to ensure packages are designed and delivered on time, to budget and quality following the highest industry practice and observing the maximum respect for Health, Safety and Environment to ensure the overall project success.
The ONSS Package Manager has direct responsibility for risk mitigation and delivery of the packages within the portfolio of works.
This will include where required the Principal Contractor responsibility under CDM.
The ONSS Package Manager will lead high performing teams to deliver complex infrastructure projects with many interfaces and integration points, coordinating specific engineering outputs within construction plans to deliver fit for purpose solutions safely to time, quality and investment criteria.
The ONSS Package Manager will ensure through their team that all works are carried out in a Safe, high Quality and environmentally compliant manner, complying with all legal requirements and leading HSQE performance.
Directly responsible for site safety through development, creation and implementation of project specific safety plans and organisational arrangements.
The ONSS Package Manager shall have sound commercial contract management in FIDIC, NEC, ICE and be capable of developing specific terms and conditions.
Key Responsibilities / Tasks
- Delivering the projects to the specification, programme and contract price in accordance with SPR procedures
- As Principal Contractor ensure compliance with all Health, Safety & Environmental Regulations and comply with SPR procedures
- Management of several Project Delivery Teams with the total number of subordinates ranging from 5 to 20 people.
- Provide accurate project financial forecasts and project financial risk assessments on all portfolio projects. Manage and report on expenditures using company’s financial tools
- Responsible for strong safety leadership across program with direct staff, contractors and supply chain partners, promoting an open and positive feedback culture towards zero incidents, open reporting and continuous improvement are commonplace.
- Ensure effective planning and monitoring of project delivery, efficient distribution of tasks within the team ensuring barriers to progress are removed by positively engaging with the management team and internal departmental interfaces.
- Responsible for project financial and contractual governance.
- Responsible for all contractor management, measurement and variation management across programme in line with contract arrangements and conditions.
- Responsible for all pre-construction, set up and coordination of services, welfare facilities, lay down areas and access arrangements for the packages.
- Responsible for coordination of all commissioning activities on the works package.
- Development and modifications to programme construction plans
- Support the ongoing development of the safety culture within the team and suppliers to ensure compliance with procedures and relevant safety legislation.
- Shall have proven skills in people management with a track record of successfully developing, building and deploying the right mix of professional skills within flexible project teams to deliver complex infrastructure projects.
- Motivate, develop and review performance of team to deliver their maximum potential
- Directly responsible to provide/ procure all technical expertise and knowledge required to resolve site and project issues that jeopardise delivery.
- Fully utilise a wide range of project management techniques to secure and safely deliver all project packages.
- Carry out regular communications with the team to ensure knowledge sharing, business goals and project performance are well understood across the group.
- Production of regular departmental management reports to establish performance in service delivery, cost control and actions taken.
- Key Criteria
- Minimum Criteria (Mandatory) Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Professional qualification (Engineering Degree, Project Management Degree) or equivalent experience of over 10 years within the industry
- Chartered in relevant area or working towards Chartership
- Comprehensive knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation associated with onshore construction projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of onshore procedures, standards and guidance.
- Fluent in English.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management software.
- Experience in managing highly skilled teams.
- Ability to work independently and in a virtual team environment.
- Flexible to travel around the UK and overseas.
Certifications to Be Maintained for the Duration of the Role
- CSCS
- SSSTS minimum, SMSTS preferred
