System Optimisation Lead

Contract Length: 6 Months
Location: Hybrid – 3 days per week in London or Leeds
IR35: Inside IR35
Clearance: BPSS

Role Overview

My client is seeking an experienced System Optimisation Lead to support the ongoing optimisation, adoption and effective use of business-critical systems across a range of transformation initiatives.

The successful candidate will focus on optimising and maximising the value of existing systems, rather than implementing a new platform from scratch. You will work closely with business stakeholders, users, technical teams and third‑party suppliers to improve system functionality, support adoption and ensure users are able to make effective use of the available capabilities.

A key focus of the role will be user acceptance testing, scaling adoption and delivering training workshops, providing users and colleagues with the knowledge and guidance required to use systems effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the ongoing optimisation, configuration and support of enterprise systems and applications.

  • Act as a subject matter expert for assigned systems, providing guidance and best‑practice recommendations.

  • Review and optimise system functionality, workflows, configurations and integrations to improve efficiency and user experience.

  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and other testing activities, including system, integration and post‑implementation testing.

  • Identify opportunities to increase user adoption and utilisation of existing system capabilities.

  • Develop and deliver training sessions and workshops for business users and stakeholders.

  • Provide coaching, guidance and ongoing support to users to improve confidence and adoption.

  • Troubleshoot, investigate and resolve system issues across front‑end and back‑end environments.

  • Support system upgrades, updates, patching and configuration changes where required.

  • Work closely with third‑party vendors and software providers to investigate incidents and resolve technical issues.

  • Build effective relationships with business stakeholders, technical teams, suppliers and programme delivery teams.

  • Translate technical system functionality into clear, practical guidance for non‑technical audiences.

  • Provide regular progress updates, reporting and management information to relevant stakeholders.

  • Contribute to wider organisational transformation and change initiatives.

Essential Experience

  • Experience working within organisational design, transformation or change environments.

  • Demonstrable experience supporting technology‑driven change or large‑scale system implementations.

  • Strong experience with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and supporting users through system changes.

  • Proven experience driving user adoption and increasing utilisation of existing systems.

  • Experience designing and delivering user training, workshops, coaching and guidance on system functionality and best practice.

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non‑technical audiences.

  • Experience working with business‑critical systems and supporting their ongoing optimisation and improvement.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, business stakeholders and third‑party suppliers.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working within the Public Sector.

  • Knowledge and practical experience of Orgvue.

  • Experience supporting organisational transformation and adoption programmes.

Important Information

  • This role can only be worked within the UK and cannot be performed from overseas.

  • Candidates must be able to work 3 days per week from either London or Leeds.

  • The role requires BPSS clearance.

  • The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate experience through an experience‑based interview via Microsoft Teams.

Key Candidate Focus

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:

  • Existing system optimisation – the software/platform has already been implemented.

  • UAT experience – hands‑on involvement in testing and validating system functionality with users.

  • User adoption – experience helping organisations scale adoption and maximise the value of existing technology.

  • Training & workshops – confidence in hosting training sessions, workshops and coaching for users.

  • Stakeholder engagement – ability to work across technical and non‑technical stakeholder groups.

  • Transformation/change – experience operating within wider organisational or technology change programmes.
