About the Company

Our client is a well‑established British engineering and manufacturing business with a long‑standing reputation for designing and manufacturing highly engineered products for the defence sector. Working on long‑term, safety‑critical programmes, the business has built its reputation on engineering excellence, product reliability and continuous improvement. Quality plays a fundamental role throughout the organisation, with close collaboration across Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations and Supply Chain to ensure the highest standards are achieved.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a business where you’ll have genuine influence over how quality systems and business processes evolve.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Quality or Business Management Systems professional to lead the ongoing development and continual improvement of the Business Management System (BMS). This is much more than a traditional Quality Engineering role. You’ll work across the business, collaborating with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations and Supply Chain to ensure robust management systems are in place, regulatory requirements are met and continuous improvement is embedded throughout the organisation. If you enjoy improving processes, influencing stakeholders and driving business‑wide improvements rather than simply maintaining systems, this could be an excellent opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the maintenance and continual improvement of the Business Management System.
  • Manage and coordinate internal audit programmes across the business.
  • Support external certification and customer audits.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO9001 and other applicable quality standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve business performance.
  • Support Management Review meetings and monitor quality objectives.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis and corrective action activities.
  • Review, develop and improve business processes and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations and Supply Chain to embed quality throughout the organisation.
  • Promote a proactive quality culture across the business.
  • Support compliance with customer, contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor KPIs and identify opportunities for operational improvement.

About You

You’ll already have experience working within Quality Systems, Business Management Systems or Continuous Improvement within a manufacturing or engineering environment. You’ll enjoy improving systems, influencing people and making processes more effective.

Ideally You’ll Have Experience With:

  • Business Management Systems (BMS) or Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • ISO9001 and quality system governance
  • Internal and external auditing
  • Root Cause Analysis (8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa etc.)
  • CAPA and non‑conformance management
  • Management Reviews
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Process mapping and process improvement
  • Cross‑functional stakeholder management
  • Manufacturing or engineering environments

Experience within defence, aerospace, nuclear, rail or other highly regulated industries would be advantageous.

What We’re Looking For

  • Business Management Systems Manager
  • Quality Systems Manager
  • Lead Quality Engineer
  • Senior Quality Engineer
  • Quality Manager
  • Continuous Improvement Manager
  • Operational Excellence Manager
  • Compliance Manager
  • Integrated Management Systems Manager

What’s on Offer?

  • Competitive salary
  • Flexible working hours
  • Opportunity to accrue up to 12 additional days annual leave
  • 33 days holiday (including Bank Holidays)
  • Up to 8% employer pension contribution
  • Healthcare
  • Cash Plan
  • Death in Service cover
  • Long‑term career development
  • Opportunity to work on complex, safety‑critical defence programmes

Why Join?

This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a Business Management System within a respected engineering organisation where quality genuinely drives business performance. You’ll have the opportunity to influence how the business operates, improve systems and processes, work alongside experienced engineering professionals and contribute to products supporting some of the UK’s most important defence programmes.
