Job Title: Financial Accountant
Location: London, Hybrid Working
Day Rate: £450 per day (inside scope)
Duration: 6 month contract initially
My client is looking to appoint an experienced Financial Accountant to join a high-profile finance team supporting one of the UK’s largest and most complex infrastructure programmes.

Financial Accountant experience. You will take ownership of the full month-end process, including balance sheet reconciliations, journal postings, financial reporting and technical accounting.
Hands-on, end-to-end month-end experience is essential.
This role requires someone who completes the full month-end cycle each month, rather than someone whose experience is primarily focused on reviewing the work of others.
Key Responsibilities of the
- Financial Accountant
- Complete the full end-to-end month-end process, including journal preparation and posting, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and financial reporting.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations across a range of financial areas, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Deliver accurate and timely monthly financial reporting in line with IFRS and internal accounting policies.
- Support the preparation of consolidated and statutory financial reporting.
- Provide technical accounting support and ensure the consistent application of IFRS across the business.
- Prepare financial analysis and commentary to support senior finance stakeholders.
- Support external audit activity and provide relevant financial information and analysis.
- Maintain strong financial controls and support improvements to accounting and reporting processes.
- Work closely with finance, commercial, project controls and operational teams to ensure accurate financial information.
- Support finance transformation, regulatory and process improvement projects.
- Candidate Profile
- Qualified accountant, ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
- Most recent 2-4 years’ experience in Financial Accountant or Senior Financial Accountant roles.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge with proven IFRS experience.
- Demonstrable, hands-on end-to-end month-end experience.
This must include posting journals, completing balance sheet reconciliations and working through the full month-end cycle each month.
- Experience across a variety of balance sheet areas, with the ability to investigate and resolve issues independently.
- Experience of financial reporting, consolidations and external audit.
- Ideally, a combination of experience within a listed company and smaller businesses, with start-up experience highly desirable.
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- SAP S/4HANA and Anaplan experience would be advantageous.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders and wider business teams.
- Experience within infrastructure, energy, construction or other large project environments would be beneficial.
