We are recruiting Exam and Overhaul Technicians to join a leading client within the Rail Rolling Stock Industry on a long-term contract basis. The roles are based at Newton Heath Depot in Manchester and offer the flexibility of working either days or shifts. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a well-established rail engineering environment, supporting the safe and reliable operation of passenger rolling stock. Project is focused on working on the corrosion on the roof of the units.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out examinations, overhauls, and heavy maintenance activities on rail vehicles and associated equipment.
- Inspect mechanical and electrical systems to identify wear, defects, and faults.
- Diagnose faults and complete effective repairs in line with technical specifications.
- Undertake strip, repair, replace, and refit activities during overhaul work.
- Ensure all work is completed to required safety, quality, and compliance standards.
- Accurately record maintenance activities and findings using depot systems.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, technicians, and supervisors to meet operational deadlines.
Requirements
- Proven experience in an Exam, Overhaul, or Maintenance Technician role within rolling stock or a similar engineering environment.
- Hold Level 3 or 4 Qualification.
- Strong mechanical and/or electrical skills.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work day shifts or rotating shift patterns.
- Understanding of rail industry standards and procedures.
