SPEN are looking for a Digital Strategy Analyst to join their team based in Glasgow on a contract basis.
Role: Digital Strategy Analyst
Business: Scottish Power Energy Networks
Location: St Vincent Street, Glasgow/hybrid style working
Duration: 12 month initial contract with scope of extension
Rate: Inside IR35, Umbrella and PAYE options available
Job Purpose Statement
The Digital Strategy Analyst plays a crucial role within the Strategy & Architecture team by providing insights, analysis, and recommendations to drive the digital transformation initiatives within SP Energy Networks. This role involves working closely with various departments and key stakeholders to understand business requirements, working with solutions architects to identify the optimal digital solution to resolve the business needs and problems.
The Digital Strategy Analyst will own and lead the process to ensure externally published digital strategy updates are made as per Ofgem’s Digital Strategy and Action Plan (DSAP) guidance, ensuring compliance with the guidance and by the prescribed deadlines. This involves liaising with various internal stakeholders/projects leads and working with external design agencies to create and publish update documents, whilst ensuring all required governance and assurance is followed.
Accountability Statements
- Work with business leads, IT leads and system architects to define and prioritise projects on the SPEN digital roadmaps to determine appropriate strategic approach to programme implementation by delivery team, recording strategic decisions made for traceability
- Conduct thorough analysis of current digital strategies and identify areas for improvement
- Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making
- Monitor and report on the progress of digital projects, ensuring they are aligned with the overall strategy and business plan.
- Provide insight and traceability of any deviations from the business plan due to changing business priorities or value case
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in digital strategy and transformation.
- Support the creation of presentations and reports for senior management and stakeholders.
- Own and lead the process to ensure externally published digital strategy updates are made as per Ofgem’s Digital Strategy and Action Plan (DSAP) guidance, ensuring compliance with the guidance and by the prescribed deadlines
- Own and define digital strategy content required to be fed into other regulatory submission documents owned out with the Business Transformation directorate
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Ensure strategic requirements are reflected in design and procurement of new IT solutions
- Reporting to ensure stakeholders are adequately informed of programme delivery status.
- Support the strategic & technical process manager in the development of strategic programmes and projects within the Business Transformation Directorate, ensuring alignment with the SP Energy Networks vision and objectives.
- Monitor and report on the programme performance, progress, and outcomes, using appropriate tools and techniques to provide accurate and timely information to the strategy & architecture lead and Business Transformation director.
- Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation within the programme and across the Business Transformation Directorate.
- Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, business functions, customers, regulators, and suppliers, to ensure effective communication and stakeholder management.
- Organise and run workshops to identify and capture business requirements
- Work with IT leads and systems architects to review solution options, agree and document preferred solution and strategic alignment
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Analytical Skills: Able to analyse data and processes to identify areas for improvement and translating into easy-to-understand formats and visualisations. Devise and present various options with the pros and cons of each one, to facilitate a decision by the business
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to think critically and strategically to drive digital initiatives
- Communication: excellent communication and reporting skills up to Director level coupled with good influencing and negotiating skills.
- Collaboration: ability to influence and collaborate at an executive and senior management level across SPEN and other key external stakeholders.
- Technical: broad technical knowledge covering the main technologies included in the IT estate. Knowledge of IT systems delivery and the project life cycle and the ability to operate an IT portfolio.
- Customer focus: ability to balance technical / IT skills with service needs to define a good quality solution on time that meets all stakeholder needs and roadmap milestones
- Recognised Business Analysis experience
- Recognised Strategic Planning experience
- Experience of IT systems portfolio management
- Extensive experience of IT systems, preferably in a utility environment.
- Ability to coordinate a wide range of business requirements into a technology plan.
- Experience of managing and leading long and short term deliverables.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications and project management tools
