Morson is partnering with one of Europe’s leading aerospace manufacturers, who are seeking a Quality Engineer with design experience to join their team at the Chester site.
Role Overview
This role focuses on resolving quality issues and driving continuous improvement initiatives by establishing measurement standards and identifying enhancements to optimise process performance.
The primary objective is to ensure product compliance with standards, process reliability, and repeatability from the initial design stage, prior to any process changes, and consistently throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
The Quality Engineering Wing team is responsible for implementing the Quality Strategy across Engineering Wing organisations.
This is achieved through the delivery of Quality Improvement Projects and Plans, supporting the achievement of Engineering Wing quality objectives.
The successful candidate will be responsible for Quality Performance activities, including:
- Leading and delivering improvement projects to meet Engineering Wing quality targets (primary responsibility).
- Facilitating and supporting root cause analysis and practical problem-solving activities.
- Developing and implementing corrective and preventive action plans to enhance engineering quality performance and outcomes.
- Identifying risks or issues related to the quality of engineering deliverables and driving standardised mitigation plans to prevent or minimise risks associated with products and processes.
- Supporting the deployment and application of quality standards within the engineering organisation.
- Capturing and sharing lessons learned to improve organisational efficiency and product maturity.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Relevant experience in Quality and/or Engineering.
- Knowledge of Project Management principles.
- Understanding of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Familiarity with root cause analysis techniques (e. g. 9S, 8D).
- Strong interpersonal skills and professional conduct when engaging with all levels of management.
- Ability to learn quickly with a positive and proactive approach to workload.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Proficient IT skills relevant to the role, including Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
- Understanding of engineering drawing and modification control.
- Experience within a design or manufacturing engineering environment is advantageous but not essential.
- Proficiency in German, both spoken and written, is highly desirable but not essential.
- Programming experience (e. g. Java Script, Google Apps Script, Python) is highly beneficial but not essential.
