Morson are looking for a technically proficient Architectural Retail Designer to join a busy specialist retail studio. You will work across all RIBA work stages (0–7), translating global brand guidelines into site‑specific architectural packages. You will lead the technical coordination of retail fit‑outs and new‑build commercial spaces, ensuring that high‑concept design is balanced with structural integrity and UK building compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Delivery: Produce comprehensive drawing packages for planning, tender, and construction using Revit (BIM) and AutoCAD.
  • Consultant Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for structural, MEP, and fire safety consultants to integrate their requirements into the retail layout.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs meet UK Building Regulations, Planning Policy, and CDM (Construction Design and Management) standards.
  • Site Management: Conduct site surveys and attend nationwide site visits to oversee construction quality and resolve on‑site technical issues.
  • Client Management: Lead client meetings to present design feasibility studies and progress reports, maintaining strong relationships with global brand stakeholders.
  • Detailing & Finishes: Develop bespoke architectural details for storefronts, façades, and internal fixtures that align with brand identities.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Background: Degree in Architecture (Part II/III preferred) or Interior Architecture/Design or Architectural Technician.
  • Software: Expert proficiency in Revit is essential for our BIM‑led workflow. High competency in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite is also required.
  • Experience: 3–5+ years in a commercial or retail‑focused architectural practice.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of UK construction methods, materials, and the ability to produce "bulletproof" technical packs.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written English for professional reporting and multi‑disciplinary coordination.
