Morson Edge is collaborating with a design‑led placemaking consultancy to recruit a Principal / Associate Town Planner for their Cardiff studio. This role offers an 8–10+ year experienced planning professional the opportunity to take on a senior, client‑facing position within a collaborative, multidisciplinary consultancy. The practice spans sectors such as residential, healthcare, education, regeneration, commercial, energy and mixed‑use developments, delivering integrated planning, urban design and landscape solutions across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a range of planning projects across multiple sectors
  • Provide strategic planning advice and manage planning applications and appeals
  • Act as a key client contact and help develop new business opportunities
  • Manage project programmes, budgets and fee delivery
  • Collaborate with urban design and landscape teams to deliver integrated solutions
  • Represent clients at meetings, consultations and stakeholder engagements
  • Mentor and support junior members of the planning team

Essential Skills & Experience

  • MRTPI qualified
  • 8–10+ years' planning experience, ideally within consultancy
  • Strong understanding of the UK planning system and policy framework
  • Proven project running and client management experience
  • Commercially aware with ability to contribute to fee generation and business growth
  • Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills
  • Proactive, collaborative and confident working within a fast‑paced consultancy environment
