Morson Edge are currently supporting a leading employee‑owned placemaking consultancy to recruit experienced Town Planners at Senior, Principal and Associate level across their Bristol and Cardiff studios.

The Opportunity

  • Lead and manage a wide range of planning applications, appeals and site appraisals
  • Provide strategic planning advice across multiple sectors and project types
  • Manage and develop strong client relationships in a consultancy environment
  • Work closely with urban design and landscape colleagues to deliver integrated, place‑based solutions
  • Support and mentor junior team members as part of a collaborative planning function

Role Overview

You will take a leading role in delivering planning projects from early feasibility through to determination, working across both strategic and detailed planning stages. The role is client‑facing and will involve coordination of multidisciplinary inputs, stakeholder engagement, and contribution to wider project strategy within a commercially driven consultancy environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead planning applications, appeals and site promotion work
  • Prepare high‑quality planning reports, statements and assessments
  • Manage client relationships and coordinate internal and external project teams
  • Support stakeholder engagement, consultations and planning committees
  • Collaborate with design disciplines to ensure integrated development outcomes
  • Mentor and support junior planners within the team
  • Contribute to business development and work‑winning activity

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Town Planning or related discipline
  • MRTPI qualified or working towards chartership
  • Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and policy framework
  • Proven consultancy or local authority experience managing planning projects
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Strong client‑facing and stakeholder engagement experience
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment

Desirable

  • Experience across residential, regeneration, education, healthcare, energy or mixed‑use schemes
  • Exposure to planning committees and public consultation processes
  • Previous experience mentoring or supporting junior team members
