Morson are recruiting for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Industrial) to support manufacturing and industrialisation activities at GKN Aerospace’s Global Technology Centre in Filton. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a highly advanced aerospace engineering environment, contributing to the development, optimisation, and delivery of zero-defect manufacturing processes across critical programmes.

Rate: Up to £55 per hour PAYE

Working Pattern: 37 hours per week, Flexible working hours (typically between 07:00 – 16:00), 4.5-day working week (early finish Friday)

Location: Filton, Bristol (site-based)

Security Clearance: Agenda Screening Clearance required prior to start, DBS provided as part of onboarding

The Role

Reporting into the Manufacturing Engineering leadership team, you will provide technical expertise at project level to support manufacturing development and integration into production. You will play a key role in delivering robust, capable manufacturing processes, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance across materials, tooling, fabrication, and assembly activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in manufacturing engineering across development and production programmes
  • Develop and implement manufacturing process solutions from concept through to production
  • Lead industrial layout and process optimisation using Lean methodologies
  • Support new product introduction, including process definition, first article inspection, and configuration changes
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventative actions to eliminate non-conformances
  • Support resolution of supplier quality and delivery issues
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations
  • Manage industrialisation projects, coordinating internal teams and external vendors
  • Accountable for manufacturing input into product quotes and system changes
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) principles
  • Promote and adhere to Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards

You will operate within a complex, high-performance aerospace engineering environment where precision, quality, and compliance are critical. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams, supply chain partners, and programme stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of manufacturing solutions.

About You

Essential:

  • Degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or similar)
  • Experience within Manufacturing Engineering (typically 3+ years)
  • Strong knowledge of: Manufacturing process development, Root cause analysis and continuous improvement, Quality systems (AS9100 / ISO9000 or similar)
  • Ability to: Work independently in complex environments, Lead technical problem-solving activities, Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels

Desirable:

  • Project or programme management experience
  • Knowledge of APQP / AS9145
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent problem-solving capability
  • Experience within aerospace or highly regulated industries
